Equity Research Associate (HPC, Snacks and Beverages)

The candidate will work directly with a client (a global asset manager) analyzing companies in the U.S. HPC, Snacks and Beverages sector from a fundamental and relative value perspective to provide value add research on the performance of each company under coverage. The position involves performing thorough research on the company’s business model, financial profile and capital structure, as well as building comprehensive financial models and forecasts in order to guide investment decisions at an institutional investor level.

Job Duties:

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for publicly traded U.S. companies
  • Prepare/update equity models including DCF valuation, peer analysis, relative value analysis and key operating and financial metrics
  • Analyze industry macro trends and company financials under the direction of the U.S. Senior Analyst based in New York
  • Prepare written research reports varying in scope and size from quick earnings briefs to thematic reports on a range of topics for large institutional clients
  • Review business and trade publications, annual reports, financial filings and other sources in order to gather, synthesize and interpret data on companies followed by the Senior Analyst
  • Candidates need to possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity, unwavering attention to detail and adaptability to work in a dynamic work environment


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Actuary, Economics, Finance or related fields preferred
  • MBA / MAF / CFA encouraged

Skills required:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience including financial equity research or consulting required
  • Strong business modeling experience, financial statement analysis and working with large data sets required (2+ years)
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to articulate ideas over the phone and email in English (must)
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-starter with a strong problem solving orientation
  • Understanding of U.S. & global financial markets and industry dynamics
  • Willingness to stretch and work with global clients
  • Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, ability to meet strict deadlines and work as part of an integrated team
  • Excellent Excel & database management skills
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg or other market data providers is preferred
